Bruins Re-Sign Bitz & Boychuk to New Deals

The Boston Bruins announced on Wednesday that they have re-signed right wing Byron Bitz to a multi-year contract and defenseman Johnny Boychuk to a one-year contract. Terms of both deals were not disclosed. In 35 games last season with the Bruins and his first in the NHL, Bitz scored four goals and three assists for seven points. Boychuk appeared in only one game last season with the Bruins, scoring no points. In five NHL games over two season with the Bruins and Colorado Avalanche, he has no points. These are basically depth signings for the Bruins, but Bitz does have a little more promise than Boychuk. Bitz will likely provide offensive depth on the third or fourth line next season for the Bruins, while Boychuk will likely spend most of the season in the minors.
