Canucks Sign Defenseman Rome to One-Year Contract
The Vancouver Canucks announced on Wednesday that they have signed defenseman Aaron Rome to a one-year contract worth $550,000. In eight games last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, he scored only one assist. In 26 career games with the Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue Jackets, he has scored one goal and two assists for three points. Rome is a very physical defenseman who plays with lots of grit and toughness, but this is merely a depth signing for the Canucks. If he makes the team next season, expect him to be the sixth or seventh defenseman.
