Devils Re-Sign Forward Pikkarainen

The New Jersey Devils announced on Thursday that they have re-signed right wing Ilkka Pikkarainen to a new contract. Exact length and financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Last season with Helsinki of the Finnish Elite League, he appeared in 54 games, scoring 24 goals and 13 assists for 37 points and 149 penalty minutes. He has yet to appear in an NHL game. Pikkarainen has the potential to become a power forward in the NHL, according to the Devils, but that remains to be seen. Being 28-years-old, he doesn’t have much time left to prove that he is still NHL material. Pikkarainen would have to make the Devils this season if he has any hope of living up to his hype.
