Flames Sign Forward Sjostrom to Two-Year Contract

The Calgary Flames added a little grit to their offense on Wednesday by signing right wing Fredrik Sjostrom to a two-year contract worth $1.5 million. They deal averages out to $750,000 per season. In 79 games last season with the New York Rangers, Sjostrom scored seven goals and six assists for 13 points. In 358 career games with the Rangers and Phoenix Coyotes, he has 41 goals and 47 assists for 88 points. Not a bad depth signing for the Flames, as Sjostrom plays with plenty of grit and offensive depth on the wing. Plus, at $750,000 per season, this is an affordable signing for the Flames who are close to the salary cap ceiling for next season.
