Sabres Re-Sign Forward McCormick
The Buffalo Sabres announced today that they have re-signed center Cody McCormick to a one-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. He appeared in 66 games last season with Portland of the AHL, scoring 17 goals and 12 assists for 29 points and 168 penalty minutes. He also appeared in three playoff games with the Sabres, scoring two assists and 14 penalty minutes. This is really just a depth signing for Buffalo, as McCormick doesn't really have a lot of offensive upside at the NHL level and is just a physical forward. However, at the minor league level, he has had some success at scoring points, so he will provide some offensive depth for Portland next season.
