Sabres Sign Rob Niedermayer, Re-Sign Patrick Lalime
The Buffalo Sabres added some offensive depth today by signing center Rob Niedermayer to a one-year contract worth $1.15 million. The team also announced the re-signing of Patrick Lalime to a one-year contract. Financial terms of his deal were not disclosed. The Niedermayer signing is not a bad one for the Sabres, as he brings plenty of veteran depth and two-way skill to the team and is good on the penalty kill. The Lalime signing is an interesting one, as he hasn't been that impressive in the previous two seasons with Buffalo, but does bring some veteran depth in goal. However, there's still plenty of goaltending talent left on the free agent market and the Sabres probably could have brought in a better backup than Lalime.
