Thrashers Sign Goaltender Chris Mason

The Atlanta Thrashers added some goaltending depth on Thursday by signing goalie Chris Mason to a two-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Not a bad depth signing in net for the Thrashers. Mason is a solid goaltender who will compete with Ondrej Pavelec for the starter's role at training camp in the fall. Even if Mason becomes the backup, he could easily jump into the starter's role if Pavelec should struggle or miss time with an injury.

EDIT
I originally stated that Mason had signed a three-year contract, when in fact, he had signed a two-year contract. The error has been corrected.
