Capitals Sign Matt Hendricks to Two-Year Contract

The Washington Capitals announced today that they have signed center Matt Hendricks to a two-year contract extension. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. He would have been an unrestricted free agent this summer. He signed a one-year deal this past September with the Capitals after being invited to training camp and impressing the team there. In 57 games so far this season, he has seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points and 84 penalty minutes. Not a bad depth signing for the Capitals, as Hendricks is a very harder worker on the ice and plays with lots of energy and toughness. He has fit in well on Washington's checking lines this season and should continue to be a good fit over the next two years.
