Lightning Acquire Eric Brewer from Blues
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced today that they have acquired defenseman Eric Brewer from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for prospect defenseman Brock Beukeboom and a third round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft. In 54 games this season with the Blues, Brewer has eight goals and six assists for 14 points and 57 penalty minutes. He will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Beukeboom has one goal and seven assists for eight points and 54 penalty minutes in 44 games with Sault Ste. Marie of the OHL this season. Not a bad trade for the Lightning as Brewer will add some size, stability, toughness, and leadership to the blueline. As for the Blues, they get a physical defensive prospect in Beukeboom who has some size.
