Blues Sign Patrik Berglund to Two-Year Extension
The St. Louis Blues announced today that they have signed center Patrik Berglund to a two-year contract extension worth $4.5 million. The deal averages out to $2.25 million per season. He would have been a restricted free agent on July 1. In 81 games this past season, he had 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points. In 228 career NHL games, all with St. Louis, he has 56 goals and 69 assists for 125 points. This is a good signing for the Blues, as Berglund is shaping up to be one the team's top forwards. He has excellent offensive instincts and is a great playmaker. I think it's a pretty good bet that Berglund will greatly improve his game over the next two seasons.
