Avalanche Re-Sign David Van Der Gulik and Justin Mercier
According to thehockeynews.com, the Colorado Avalanche have re-signed right wing David Van Der Gulik and left wing Justin Mercier to one-year contracts. Financial terms of both deal were not disclosed. Van Der Gulik would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1, while Mercier would have been eligible for restricted free agency. In six games last season with the Avalanche, Van Der Gulik had one goal and two assists for three points. He also appeared in 48 games with Lake Erie of the AHL, scoring 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points. Mercier played in 80 games last season with Lake Erie, scoring 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points. These are really just depth signings for the Avalanche, as both players will likely spend most of next season in the minors.
