Lightning Sign Dwayne Roloson to One-Year Extension
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced today that they have signed goaltender Dwayne Roloson to a one-year contract extension worth $3 million. He would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He was acquired by the Lightning from the New York Islanders on January 1 in exchange for Ty Wishart. In 54 games last season with the Islanders and Lightning, Roloson posted a 24-25-5 record, four shutouts, a 2.59 GAA, and a .914 save percentage. This is a good signing for the Lightning, as Roloson was very steady in goal for the team as he backstopped them all the way to the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals. He brings lots of veteran experience in goal for the team, as well as plenty of stability. Backup Mike Smith likely won't be back with the Lightning next season, so look for Roloson to split the goaltending duties with whoever Tampa Bay decides to go with as their second goalie.
