Capitals Sign Jason Chimera to Two-Year Extension

The Washington Capitals announced today that they have signed left wing Jason Chimera to a two-year contract extension worth $3.5 million. The deal will pay him $1.8 million in 2012-13 and $1.7 million in 2013-14. He would have been an unrestricted free agent next summer. In 81 games last season with the Capitals, he had 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points. Not a bad move for the Capitals, as Chimera brings plenty of grit and two-way skill to the lineup. He's also got good speed and effective on the penalty kill, making him a decent role-player for the team
