Blues Sign Barret Jackman to Three-Year Extension
The St. Louis Blues announced today that they have signed defenseman Barret Jackman to a three-year contract extension. The financial terms have not been disclosed, but the deal is reportedly worth $9.5 million, which would average out to $3.16 million per season. He would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1. In 81 games this past season, he had one goal and 12 assists for 13 points and 57 penalty minutes. The Blues were wise to lock up Jackman before July 1, as he is a decent defensive defenseman who plays a physical game and has some shutdown skills. He is also a solid leader on and off the ice, making him a valuable player to the St. Louis organization.
