Maple Leafs Sign Tough-Guy Colton Orr to Four-Year Contract
The Toronto Maple Leafs got a lot tougher on Wednesday by signing right wing Colton Orr to a four-year contract worth $4 million. The deal averages out to $1 million per season. In all 82 games last season with the New York Rangers, Orr scored one goal and four assists for five points and 193 penalty minutes. In five NHL seasons, he has appeared in 245 games with the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers, scoring four goals and seven assists for 11 points and 549 penalty minutes. The Maple Leafs were looking to get a lot tougher through free agent signings and they did just that in getting Orr. He is a very tough and physical forward who plays with a lot of grit. He doesn’t have any offensive upside whatsoever, but being an enforcer, can intimidate the opposition easily. Look for him to be playing on Toronto’s checking line in the fall.
