Penguins Sign Forward Michael Rupp to Two-Year Contract
The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Wednesday that they have signed center Michael Rupp to a two-year contract worth $1.65 million. The deal averages out to $825,000 per season. In 72 games last season with the New Jersey Devils, Rupp scored three goals and six assists for nine points and 136 penalty minutes. In 335 career games with the New Jersey Devils, Phoenix Coyotes, and Columbus Blue Jackets, Rupp has 27 goals and 26 assists for 53 points and 412 penalty minutes. Not a bad signing for the Penguins, as Rupp adds lots of toughness and gritty play to their forward lines. Look for him to serve as an enforcer next season alongside tough-guy Eric Godard on either the third or fourth line.
