Sharks Re-Sign Defenseman Kent Huskins to Two-Year Deal
The San Jose Sharks announced on Wednesday that they have re-signed defenseman Kent Huskins to a two-year contract worth $3.4 million. The deal averages out to $1.7 million per season. The Sharks acquired Huskins and Travis Moen at the 2009 trade deadline from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for minor leaguers Nick Bonino and Timo Pielmeier. Huskins suffered a broken foot in January and missed the rest of the regular season. He didn’t get a chance to suit up with the Sharks, but he appeared in 33 games last season with the Ducks, scoring two goals and four assists for six points. Not a bad signing for the Sharks, as Huskins gives the team plenty of defensive depth. Look for him to play on the third defensive pairing as either the fifth or sixth defenseman.
