Sharks Re-Sign Forward Clowe to Four-Year Contract

The San Jose Sharks locked up a piece of their future on Friday by signing left wing Ryane Clowe to a four-year contract worth $14 million. The deal averages out to $3.5 million per season. The signing comes days after rumors began to swirl that the Sharks were close to trading Clowe, but the rumors never came to fruition. In 71 games last season with the Sharks, Clowe scored 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points. In 162 career games, all with the Sharks, he has 41 goals and 55 assists for 96 points. A good signing for the Sharks, as Clowe is quickly developing into a top-six forward in the league. He brings the Sharks lots of offensive skill, especially on the power play, and plenty of grit. While the trade rumors could still come true, I believe Clowe will remain a fixture on the Sharks forward lines for years to come.
