Canucks Sign Forward Samuelsson to Three-Year Contract
The Vancouver Canucks added some scoring depth to their roster on Friday by signing right wing Mikael Samuelsson to a three-year contract worth $7.5 million. The deal averages out to $2.5 million per season. In 81 games last season with the Detroit Red Wings, Samuelsson scored 19 goals and 21 assists for 40 points. In 466 career games with the Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Florida Panthers, he has 86 goals and 122 assists for 208 points. Not a bad signing for the Canucks, as Samuelsson brings plenty of offensive skill to the team, especially on the power play. He will likely land a top-six role on the team and could likely see plenty of playing time with the Sedin twins.
