Canucks Re-Sign Defenseman Zimmerman to One-Year Deal
The Vancouver Canucks have announced that they have re-signed defenseman Sean Zimmerman to a one-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Canucks obtained the 23-year-old defenseman on March 3 from the Phoenix Coyotes along with a sixth round pick in 2010 for defenseman Mathieu Schneider. In 72 games last season with San Antonio of the AHL, Zimmerman had two goals and seven assists for nine points and 105 penalty minutes. He has yet to appear in an NHL game. This is really just a depth signings for the Canucks. Zimmerman plays with a lot of grit and toughness, but given the depth on Vancouver's defense for next season, he likely spend most of it in the minors.
