Lightning Acquire Forward Simon Gagne from Philadelphia
According to rds.ca, the Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired left wing Simon Gagne from the Tamp Bay Lightning in exchange for defenseman Matt Walker and a fourth round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft. Gagne, who has a no-trade clause in his contract, reportedly agreed to waive it earlier this month. In 58 games last season with the Flyers, he had 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points. Walker had two goals and three assists for five points and 90 penalty minutes in 66 games last season with the Lightning. Not a bad move for the Lightning, who are quickly becoming a much-improved team with the recent hiring of Steve Yzerman as general manager. Gagne is a decent two-way winger who can score goals and is good on the power play. The biggest knock against him is that he is extremely prone to injury, but if Gagne can stay healthy, he will be an excellent acquisition for the Lightning. Walker will bring plenty of toughness and grit to the Flyers' blueline.
