Canucks Sign Left Wing Peter Schaefer
The Vancouver Canucks announced on Thursday that they have signed left wing Peter Schaefer to a contract. The exact length and financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. He had been attending the Canucks' training camp on a tryout basis and will begin his second stint with the team. He last played in the NHL during the 2007-08 season with the Boston Bruins. In 556 career NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators, and Boston Bruins, he has 98 goals and 161 assists for 259 points. This is just a depth move for the Canucks, as Schaefer likely won't play a huge role on the team this season. If he isn't sent to the minors, he will likely play on the fourth line, where he will provide plenty of veteran depth and two-way skill.
