Capitals Sign Matt Hendricks to One-Year Contract
The Washington Capitals have announced that they have signed center Matt Hendricks to a one-year, two-way contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. He had been in training camp with the Capitals on a tryout basis. In 56 games last season with the Colorado Avalanche, he had nine goals and seven assists for 16 points and 74 penalty minutes. This is really just a depth signing for the Capitals, as Hendricks will likely land a fourth line role or be demoted to the minors at the start of the season. If he does make the club, he will bring plenty of energy, grit, and toughness to the forward lines.
