NY Islanders Sign Defenseman Mike Mottau to Two-Year Deal

The New York Islanders have announced that they have signed defenseman Mike Mottau to a two-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In 79 games last season with the New Jersey Devils, he had two goals and 16 assists for 18 points. Not a bad signing for the Islanders, as Mottau will bring some much needed veteran depth to the team's defense after losing Mark Streit indefinitely to shoulder surgery. While Mottau won't replace Streit offensively, he will still bring plenty of mobility and experience to the blueline.
