Flames Release Right Wing J.D. Watt
The Calgary Flames announced today that they have terminated the contract of right wing J.D. Watt, making him an unrestricted free agent. Watt notified the Flames' organization on Monday that he no longer wanted to be a part of the organization. He was suspended by the team, and after clearing unconditional waivers, had his contract terminated. In 27 games this season with Abbotsford of the AHL, he had one goal and three assists for four points and 73 penalty minutes. He has never appeared in an NHL game. I don't have much to say about this other than I wish Watt the best of luck in finding another team to prolong his NHL career. If he signs with another team, he will bring them plenty of grit and toughness.
