Wild Sign Free Agent Forward Jed Ortmeyer

The Minnesota Wild announced today that they have signed right wing Jed Ortmeyer to a one-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not announced and he was assigned to the team's AHL affiliate in Houston after the signing. In 76 games last season with the San Jose Sharks, he had eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points. In 306 career NHL games with the New York Rangers, Nashville Predators, and San Jose Sharks, he has 21 goals and 30 assists for 51 points. Not a bad depth signing for the Wild, as Ortmeyer has some two-way skill and is decent on the penalty kill. For now, he will continue to play in the minors and could see some NHL action if injuries continue to mount for the Wild.
