Blackhawks Sign Corey Crawford to Three-Year Contract

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have signed goaltender Corey Crawford to a three-year contract extension worth $8 million. The deal averages out to $2.67 million per season. He would have been eligible for restricted free agency on July 1. In 57 games this past season, he posted a 33-18-6 record, four shutouts, a 2.30 GAA, and a .917 save percentage. In the 2011 playoffs, he posted a 3-4 record, one shutout, a 2.21 GAA, and a .927 save percentage in seven games. This is a good signing for the Blackhawks, as Crawford had a real solid 2010-11 season that earned him the starter's role over Marty Turco. Crawford has good size and enough skill to now become the full-time starter in Chicago. Look for him to continue to improve on his skills over the next three years.
