Flames Sign Henrik Karlsson to Two-Year Contract

The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed goaltender Henrik Karlsson to a two-year contract extension worth $1.75 million. The deal will average out to $875,000 per season. He would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1. In 17 games last season, he posted a 4-5-6 record, with a 2.58 GAA and a .908 save percentage. Not a bad depth signing for the Flames, as Karlsson as good size and some upside to becoming a starting goaltender. Look for him to continue to be the backup to Miikka Kiprusoff over the next two years.
