Canadiens Sign Josh Gorges to Six-Year Extension
The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they have signed defenseman Josh Gorges to a six-year contract extension worth $23.4 million. The deal averages out to $3.9 million per season. He would have been an unrestricted free agent this summer. In 39 games so far this season, he has one goal and nine assists for 10 points. Not a bad depth signing for the Canadiens, as Gorges has developed into an above-average shutdown defenseman. He has a good work ethic and plenty of leadership qualities and will likely be an important player in the Montreal Canadiens' efforts to turn around their struggling team.
