The New York rangers have announced that they have avoided arbitration with defenseman Dan Girardi and signed him to a four-year contract worth $13.3 million. The deal averages out to $3.325 million per season. In all 82 games last season with the Rangers, he had six goals and 18 assists for 24 points. Not a bad signing for the Rangers, as Girardi brings plenty of offensive skill to the blueline. He is also good at blocking shots and has good size, making him a very effective top-four defenseman for the team.
