Blues Sign B.J. Crombeen to Two-Year Contract

The St. Louis Blues announced on Wednesday that they have signed center B.J. Crombeen to a two-year contract extension worth $2 million. The annual salary cap hit for his deal will be $1 million. He would have been a restricted free agent on July 1. In 80 games last season, he had seven goals and seven assists for 14 points and 154 penalty minutes. Not a bad depth signing for the Blues, as Crombeen plays with lots of grit and energy and can also contribute offensively from time to time. Look for him to continue to play a checking line role over the next two seasons.

Blues Sign Forward Crombeen to Two-Year Contract

The St. Louis Blues announced on Monday that they have signed right wing B.J. Crombeen to two-year contract worth $1.745 million. The deal averages out to $872,500 per season. Crombeen split the 2008-09 season with the Blues and Dallas Stars after being claimed off waivers from the Stars in November. In 81 games last season, he scored 12 goals and 10 assists for 22 points and 148 penalty minutes. This is a great signing for the Blues, as Crombeen plays a real physical game and has lots of energy. He proved last season that he has a bit of offensive skill in him too, so look for him to make offensive contributions from time to time on the checking lines.

Blues Claim Crombeen Off Waivers from Stars

The St. Louis Blues announced on Tuesday that they have claimed right wing B.J. Crombeen off waivers from the Dallas Stars. So far this season, Crombeen has played in 15 games, scoring one goal and four assists for five points and 26 penalty minutes. The Blues' offense is currently ravaged with injuries, with D.J. King, T.J. Oshie, Dan Hinote, Paul Kariya, and Andy McDonald all on injured reserve. Crombeen is an affordable pickup for the Blues which did not cost them a roster player. He will likely see time on the checking lines given his gritty style of play.
