Canucks Acquire Paetsch from Panthers for Zimmerman
In their third trade over the last three days, the Vancouver Canucks have acquired defenseman Nathan Paetsch from the Florida Panthers in exchange for defenseman Sean Zimmerman. Paetsch had signed as a free agent with the Panthers this past summer, while Zimmerman was acquired by the Canucks at the 2009-10 trade deadline from the Phoenix Coyotes. In 21 games last season with the Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets, Paetsch had one goal and one assist and was a frequent healthy scratch. Zimmerman appeared in 72 games last season with San Antonio of the AHL, scoring two goals and seven assists for nine points and 105 penalty minutes. He has yet to appear in an NHL game. This is really nothing more than a depth move for both teams. Paetsch will add some versatility to the Canucks, as he can also play on the wing, while Zimmerman gives the Panthers a physical defenseman, although he will likely spend most of this season in the minors.
