NY Rangers Sign Ruslan Fedotenko to One-Year Deal
The New York Rangers announced today that they have signed left wing Ruslan Fedotenko to a one-year contract worth $1 million. He had been invited to the Rangers' training camp on a tryout basis and earned himself a contract for his strong play in the preseason. He had one goal and six assists in five preseason games and has found some chemistry playing alongside Sean Avery and rookie Derek Stepan. In 80 games last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Fedotenko had 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points. In 677 career games with Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, New York Islanders, and Pittsburgh, he has 150 goals and 158 assists for 308 points. He won the Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay in 2004 and Pittsburgh in 2009. Not a bad signing for the Rangers, as Fedotenko will bring some offensive depth to their roster. He also has good hands and brings some skill to the power play, so he should be a decent forward on the checking line.
