Capitals Sign Veteran Forward Mike Knuble to Two-Year Contract
The Washington Capitals announced on Wednesday that they have signed right wing Mike Knuble to a two-year contract worth $5.6 million. The deal averages out to $2.8 million per season. The Philadelphia Flyers had been very interested in retaining Knuble’s services, but did not have the salary cap space to re-sign him. In all 82 games last season with the Flyers, Knuble scored 27 goals and 20 assists for 47 points. He has appeared in 820 career games with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, and Philadelphia Flyers, scoring 215 goals and 214 assists for 429 points. This is a great signing for the Capitals after losing Viktor Kozlov and Sergei Fedorov to the KHL this past month. Knuble has excellent offensive skills, especially on the power play, and brings lots of experience to the Capitals’ forward lines. He will be a good addition to the team.
